A LITTLE HISTORY

The Basil Smash is a cocktail that debuted in the 2000s, but its origins date back to the smash cocktail era of the 19th century. Back then, smash cocktails were made by mixing sugar, citrus zest, and mint in a mixing glass, before pouring them into a glass filled with fruit. There were several variations, such as the Whiskey Smash, Brandy Smash, and Gin Smash.

The Basil Smash is a modern take on the gin sour, with the addition of basil. This cocktail was created in 2008 by bartender Urish Meyer in a German bar. Since its creation, the Basil Smash has become popular in bars around the world due to its unique and fresh taste, combining the aroma of basil with the sweetness of sugar and the tangy flavor of gin.

The Basil Smash is a modern cocktail that combines current ingredients with a historical tradition of smash cocktails. With its unique and fresh taste, it is an interesting addition to the list of cocktails to discover for alcohol lovers.
